Question: In your own words, tell us who S.L. Baum is.

Answer: A wife, a mother, a writer, a crafter, a blogger, a baker, a kid taxi driver, a referee, a recipe tweaker, a shoe hoarder, a pinterest junkie… the list is endless.

Question: You live in Arizona. Tell us a little about your corner of the world and what your life is like living there.

Answer: Some like it hot… well, I LOVE it hot. I bask in the warmth of the sun. I am happiest wearing a t-shirt, shorts, and flip flops. The beauty of Arizona is that I can hop in the car and drive to snow (in the winter) and cooler temps (in the summer). I can take day trips to deserts, forests, national monuments, lakes, rivers, etc… Arizona is amazing.

My day to day life is like most mom’s out there. I drive 3 kids to school, then in the afternoons we shuffle around to gymnastics, ice skating, music lessons, and youth symphony. We love eating out and watching movies at home during the weekends. My kids are still young enough that they enjoy “family time” – talk to me next year (when my eldest is in HS) and we’ll see if that changes…

Question: Tell me about where you grew up. What was your life was like as you grew from a child to an adult? How did this shape you into the person you are today?

Answer: My father was in the tail end of his Air Force career during my early years, and wasn’t sure what he wanted to do when he retired from the military at 37. I went to a different school for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades (until we settled down in the Phoenix metropolitan area). My parents vowed to keep me in the same school area (and I kept them to it) for the rest of my public school years.

I went on to college and earned my degree in Secondary Education with amajor emphasis in Mathematics and a minor emphasis in English. I am a math geek that loves to read!

Question: If you could live anywhere in this world that your heart desired, where would that be and why?

Answer: I would love to live in the Caribbean: somewhere it is warm and I can walk along the beach all year long. But I’d need to have the money to fly to a ski resort (preferably Telluride) a few times a year.

Question: The name of the title you are promoting today is A Chance for Charity (The Immortal Ones). I always like to hear about the “behind the scenes” of a title and I am sure our readers would like to hear this too. For instance, what was the catalyst that prompted you to write this book? Is the book loosely based upon any happenings in your own life, or anyone you know?

Answer: I wrote a bit after college and then put it aside for many, many years. My catalyst for writing again was an off-road accident that I was involved in. It made me realize that life is too short to not do the things that you love, the things that you really want to do. So, I started writing again. When I began writing, I didn't consider the YA paranormal genre.  I started two previous projects that I couldn't finish, and I never knew why.  But, when I started to write - A Chance for Charity (The Immortal Ones) - the story poured out of me and I loved every minute of the writing process!  I still have those other stories, and someday I plan to go back and finish them.

The story is not based on anything in particular, but it does highlight my love for the town of Telluride, Colorado. I knew that I could lose myself in that town. It is one of my family’s favorite destinations.

Question: Tell me about what you see as your future in the writing world, your plans and your desires.

Answer: I am just going to keep writing, and we see where it takes me. I am currently working on Book 3 in The Immortal Ones Series, and I have a few chapters started in a completely new project as well.

Question: Where can our readers find out more about you and your book(s)?

Answer: You can connect with me at:
